North American Hepatitis Elimination Summit/CSHCV at CLM 2021

A new meeting was inaugurated at the Canadian Liver Meeting (CLM) in May this year: the North American Hepatitis Elimination Summit.

The Summit took place virtually within the CLM from May 2-5, 2021 and was co-organised by the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), the Canadian Association of Hepatology Nurses (CAHN), CanHepC and the Canadian Association for the Study of the Liver (CASL). The 3-day Summit expanded previous years CanHepC’s organised Canadian Symposium on Hepatitis C Virus (CSHCV) tracks to include hepatitis B topics with a focus on viral hepatitis elimination. The Summit also included lectures from Nobel Laureates Dr Michael Houghton and Dr Harvey Alter for their discovery of the hepatitis C virus. The full program is available on the CLM’s website as well as on-demand replay of the entire conference.

The recipients of the 10th Canadian Symposium on HCV (CSHCV) at the North American Hepatitis Elimination Summit trainee poster & oral presentations awards are:

  • Best MSc student poster - Simmone D’souza, University of Calgary
  • Best PhD student poster - Ching-Hsuan Liu, Dalhousie University
  • Best PhD student poster - Dahn Jeong, University of British Columbia
