Canadian Liver Foundation

Gary Fagan is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Liver Foundation. Under his leadership, the CLF has kept liver research a top priority and has provided much-needed liver health education to patients, health care professionals and the public.

Mr. Fagan believes in the value of a collaborative approach. He has developed partnerships with the medical community, patient groups, health agencies and corporate Canada to help spread the message of the importance of liver health and the risks and consequences of liver disease. He reached out to liver foundations around the world (including Australia, Britain, China, France, Germany, India, Pakistan, Taiwan and the USA) to encourage sharing of programs and best practices and working together to increase support for liver research and education by raising the profile of liver health globally.

Mr. Fagan led Canada’s first World Hepatitis Day initiative as Chairman of the Canadian World Hepatitis Alliance. He is a member of the Health Charities Coalition of Canada and a member of the Governing Board of the Canadian Association for the Study of the Liver. Mr. Fagan reinforces the importance of knowledge translation by serving as a member of the Program Advisory Committee for the National CIHR Research Training Program in Hepatitis C and as a member of Knowledge Translation Advisory Committees for various liver research projects in Canada.
